I’ve recently had the best fun creating with the newest Tilda Collection called ‘Birdpond’.
This collection has the prettiest bright tones, with a real retro vibe. There are also more coordinating basic in the dots that match perfectly.
I’ve pulled out the purple/navy and orange tones and designed a pair of Retro Potholders, that are fun and stylish, and very practical. This is a free pattern available to download. Just click the image at the bottom of the post to get the pattern.
The fronts of the potholders are an on point patchwork. The backs are lined with both batting and Insulbright, making them extremely sturdy.
The plain straight line quilting design gives just a touch of modern, and the bold Tilda prints are just perfect for showing off.
This pattern does call for bias binding. If you’ve never sewn with this before, let me assure you that it’s nothing to be scared of. You can purchase some precut bias binding, or make your own to match. It’s only a small amount that you need, so it’s not daunting at all.

I’d love to see what you make with this pattern. Share them with the hashtag #ASpatchworkpotholders for everyone to see!
