I've never actually participated in a quilt along before, and a few months ago, the Fat Quarter Shop announced a special quilt along for a really beautiful quilt, called Crossroads. Isn't this just the most adorable looking quilt??

This is a free pattern that they are providing, and they are asking for a small donation to March of the Dimes, a charity which benefits premature babies. So there is chance to sew a lovely quilt, and help out a special cause as well! There is also an impressive array of bloggers who have been asked to sew along, and I've loved reading what they are all doing. The range of fabric choices is so interesting...I will be using a lot of my stash for this, and kind of winging it as I go along. I know the kind of colours that I want in it, and I will mostly use soft, tiny florals, for a really classic look. The first installment is a cute house block, and I really enjoyed making these, even though I feel like very much a novice, and am still learning how to make them finish at the right size. I got there in the end, and am pretty happy with how they turned out.

I really love all these fabric choices, and even really realised how much I love the mix of white and cream in this little house. I think it really adds some vintage charm.

This one is a Sevenberry fabric, one of their many cute tiny florals.

This one is a lovely Cosmo print, and you may recognize it from my Hearts quilt here.

And this one is from a good old Spotlight fat quarter that I've had for a while now.

And a closeup of my new cute cupcake pincushion...looks good enough to eat!!

I'd love you to keep up with my progress! I've loved seeing all of yours! Linking up with Needle and Thread Thursday.
