Allegra the Rocking Horse Pillow

I'd like to introduce you to a recent addition to my shop, Allegra the Rocking Horse Pillow.I've had a rocking horse floating around in my imagination for a while now. You know, one of those things that you know you have to design, but nothing has clicked. Then the other day, I had a sudden vision of what she was going to look like!I gathered my favourite things, including my crochet lace, even though I didn't know where I was going to use it yet. Sometimes my best designs are ones that don't have a specific plan, but just come together in the process of it all.

I looked for ages for shapes and styles that I liked, before settling on this one, and then doodling with the shape of the bridle and saddle. I wanted it to be dainty, but not so small that I couldn't cut it out.This is using my favourite liberty print at the moment, kindly supplied by Ava&Neve, and of which I am running out fast! I also managed to find the cutest little buttons that coordinated so well, already in my button collection. This cheeky little fawn wanted to get in on the action as well! Isn't he gorgeous??

Then I was playing around with the lace, trying to decide where it could be incorporated in the design, and the idea to make the reigns out of the crochet lace just came to me...and it was perfect.
