I know I'm a little late to the party, but I had to share a project I finished last week that I really enjoyed.Vanessa of Lella Boutique designed a great tutorial for this portable quilters companion, and of course I needed another kit to hold everything. Like most of you, my sewing room and machine are a long way from my lounge room where I sit and do all my hand sewing, knitting and crochet. So a kit to hold everything in a tidy way is a great idea. And you can even throw this in your handbag to bring to music lessons or sports practice. The fabric for the cover came from my husbands grandmother, who I have previously mentioned was a formidable craft woman, and I love using her vintage materials for projects. The scissors are also from her, and come from Sheffield, England. Very special!

I had fun adding all the little details to the front, and appliqueing the strawberries, and woolen felt flower. Diamond quilting is one of my favourite ways to quilt, and I love how it turned out with this kit.

This kit is designed to hold your binding clips, some thread, scissors, pins, and of course some goodies to sustain through the hard slog that is finishing a project! I currently own no binding clips, my thread doesn't fit on the spool holder, and my goodies of choice are generally chocolate, which I would hesitate to store in this...but I'll get there eventually!
