I love crocheting! I don't know what I find the most appealing...the laciness of it, or the ease that you can undo a mistake without ruining the whole project which often happens with knitting.

This project started out as I made granny squares based on the pattern 'Blue Heaven', by Barbara Shaffer, in the book 'Touchable Texture Afghans.'Pretty soon I decided to join them into an oblong cushion, and I added an improvised border to make it up to the size I wanted.

The best part is being able to play around with these...

I love how beads and sequins turns a nice cushion into a real 'look at me' piece. The little glints catch your eye and make you look closer.

The yarn is from the Island Collection by Cestari, a cotton, wool and silk blend. It is very rustic, still having pieces of twig wound up with it, and has a subtle blue highlight to the cream. I backed it with cream linen, which adds to the rustic effect.
